Areas of study for which the Fulbright-Nehru Master's Fellowships is provided include: 

Arts and Culture Management including Heritage Conservation and Museum Studies; International Legal Studies; Journalism and Mass Communication; Public Administration; Public Health; Urban and Regional Planning; Economics; Environmental Science/Studies; Higher Education Administration; International Affairs; and Women’s Studies/Gender Studies

2. Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowship

The Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowship is awarded to eligible students for promoting research that addresses and tackles climate change-related issues in both the US and India.

Areas of scientific studies like Agriculture, Public Policy, Environmental Engineering, Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, Energy Studies, Earth Science, Geology, Environmental Sciences, Renewable Energy, Smart Cities, etc. are some of the major fields of this fellowship. Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowship, like other Fulbright fellowships, is also meant for Indian PhD scholars to conduct a part of their research for 6 to 9 months in the US.

3. Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships

Scholars of an Indian institution who are keen on doing a part of their research in a US institution for 6 to 9 months are awarded the Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships by the United States-India Educational Foundation. Activities like conducting research, gaining practical work experience and auditing non-degree courses can be better availed by Indian scholars by studying/ doing research in a reputed university in the US. Work experience relevant to the current field is a prerequisite for consideration of an application for the scholarship.

4. National Overseas Scholarship Scheme by the Indian Government

For uplifting the economic and social status of low-income students from the Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Laborers, Scheduled Castes, and Traditional Artisans categories through higher education abroad, the Indian government awards National Overseas Scholarship.

Subjective to the availability of funds, around 125 new awards are distributed annually. In the last qualifying examination, the applicant must have secured at least a 60% pass score and the combined family income of the candidate must not exceed 8 lakhs per annum.

5. Goa education trust scholarships

One-time payment scholarships to Indian students for variable amounts for postgraduate studies in the UK are offered by Goa EducationTrust, in participation with the British Council of India. The applicant is shortlisted not only based on academic qualifications but also references and extracurricular achievements. The residents of Goa are given preference over other applicants for this scholarship and it is valid in all UK universities.

6. Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees 

Funded by the European Union, the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree is a fully funded scholarship for high-level, integrated master’s programmes. Apart from funding all the other expenses, the scholarship enables beneficiaries to complete their master’s in different European countries with an allowance of 1100-1200 Euros per month. Eligible applicants of any nationality can apply for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees and the applicant is allotted admission to a particular university while applying for the scholarship.

7. Great Wall Program

Awarded by the Chinese Ministry of Education with UNESCO, the Great Wall Program is a fully funded scholarship awarded to students and scholars from developing countries to conduct research and study in China. The support from this programme can be availed by general and senior research scholars. If the applied programme is taught in Chinese, the applicant’s Chinese language proficiency would be tested.

8. Inlaks Scholarship

The Inlaks scholarships are awarded to students of m Phil, master’s, or PhD courses in the US, UK or any European or North American country by the Inlak Shivdasani Foundation. The scholarship funds the tuition fees and other necessary expenses like living costs and travel fares and is a one-time payment for one year. For Inlaks Scholarship, a wide range of subjects such as fashion, architecture, theatre, journalism, etc, are considered. To qualify for the Inlaks Scholarship the applicants must clear preliminary and final interviews.
